Which platforms and languages are supported?
Information from any platform can be loaded: mainframe, iSeries, UNIX, Linux, PCs and other distributed assets. That includes COBOL, JCL, RPG, Natural, Java, .NET, C++, Go, stored procedures and scripts, with cross-platform dependencies shown between them.
Hvordan SMART TS XL relate to ASK AI and the MCP Connector?
SMART TS XL is the platform. ASK AI adds AI analysis inside SMART TS XL using saved prompts and your approved models. The MCP Connector lets an outside assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini or Grok query SMART TS XL directly. All three use the same repository and the same permissions.
Can it be used for business rule mining?
Yes. Complex Boolean searches and program flowcharting expose business logic and rules, and ASK AI can turn those findings into a structured rule catalog.
Installation and data loading

You provide an application server and a SQL Server for the repository, plus admin and login accounts. IN-COM installs SMART TS XL, defines data types, configures automation scripts and provides training. A Dev/QA environment uses the same setup.
Skal vi installere noget på mainframen?
No. The only installations are on the SMART TS XL application server and the SQL Server.
How is source code loaded?
Mainframe source is pushed via FTP, NDM or an equivalent. Distributed source is pulled through connectors for Git, Bitbucket, TFS, SVN and others, and database connectors cover Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, DB2 and more.
How much effort is required to load 1,000 COBOL programs?
Loading 1,000 COBOL programs of about 10,000 lines each takes less than 10 minutes, including the FTP transfer.
Funktionalitet
What does “expanded COBOL” and “expanded JCL” mean?
Expanded COBOL brings copybooks into the source in-stream, giving a runtime view that also handles REPLACE BY. Expanded JCL shows procs, cards and parms, symbolic substitutions and overrides inline. Both make impact analysis, complexity analysis and field tracking accurate.
How does it handle complex searches?
SMART TS XL supports complex Boolean searches across billions of lines of code in seconds, plus cross-reference reports, flowcharting, CRUD reporting and custom queries.
Does it support Control-M?
Yes. Control-M is supported out of the box, showing job dependencies and scheduling information. Specific auto-edit variable needs can be tailored.
How does it reduce mainframe MIPS usage?
All mainframe information, including VSAM records and letter templates, can be loaded into SMART TS XL, so searches, scans, discovery and analysis no longer run on the mainframe.
